SHRI RAVI DAHIYA

Shri Ravi Dahiya, District & Sessions Judge, Gomat- District, Tripura
Born in January 1975 in Delhi, he originally hails from Haryana. His father served as a Gazetted Officer with the Delhi Administration, while his mother was a Headmistress with the Municipal Corporation of Delhi. He began his education in Delhi and later moved to Sonipat, Haryana, where he completed his matriculation, Senior secondary education and Graduation in Humanities. He pursued his LL.B. degree from Mathura, Uttar Pradesh.
After completing his LL.B., he enrolled with the Bar Council of Delhi in the February 2000, becoming the first lawyer in his family. He commenced his legal practice at Tis Hazari Courts and went on to practice in various courts across Delhi, including all six district courts, tribunals, the High Court, and the Supreme Court of India. His areas of practice included criminal law, civil matters, service matters, consumer cases, and motor accident claim cases. He also served on the panels of advocates for the Delhi Cantonment Board, Delhi Jal Board, Delhi Legal Services Authority, and various private companies. In total, he practiced as an advocate for 17 years, 9 months, and 22 days, handling a wide range of legal matters across multiple forums.
On 27 November 2017, he joined the Tripura Judicial Service as a Grade-I Officer (Additional District & Sessions Judge). During his judicial career, he has held several key positions, including Additional District Judge, Additional Sessions Judge, Presiding Officer of the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal, Workman Compensation Claim Tribunal. He has also served as Special Judge under various statutes, including the Electricity Act, National Investigation Agency Act, CBI cases, Prevention of Corruption Act, POCSO Act, NDPS Act, SC/ST Act, Tripura Protection of Interest of Depositors Act, Drugs and Cosmetics Act, and the Prevention of Money Laundering Act. Additionally, he has served as Judge in Land Acquisition matters and Family Court, Permanent LokAdalat, President District Consumer Commission and is presently serving as a District & Sessions Judge.
He has also held several important administrative and advisory roles, including Chairman of the District Legal Services Authority, Secretary of the High Court Legal Services Committee, Additional Chief Legal Advisor in the Delhi Development Authority (on deputation), Deputy Registrar at the National Green Tribunal (On deputation), Officer on Special Duty with the High Court of Tripura (posted in Delhi), and Legal Advisor to the Delhi Transport Corporation (On deputation).
